Selects' Woes Continue in 7-6 Loss

Selects vs. Athletics

Tuesday, May 30, 2017

The Selects simply could not get outs when they needed them on Tuesday night, dropping a heartbreaker by giving up four in the final frame, losing 7-6 to the Athletics.

Neither team could muster any offense through the first three innings, as Athletics' lefty Noah Weir stranded all four Selects' baserunners, while Selects' hurler Scott Clark held the A's hitless.

The Selects jumped out front in the fourth, turning singles from Mike Brown and Lane Sebastian, a Tom Allan double, and a Kevin Ryrie triple into a 3-0 advantage. But the Athletics tied it up in the bottom half, thanks to a hit-by-pitch, walk, single, and two Selects' errors.

After the Selects added three more in the fifth to take a 6-3 lead, the Athletics stormed back with four of their own to notch the victory, highlighted by a Mack Smith double and well-placed singles from Weir, Ryan Koscher, and Dan Wakeford.
