Selects cruise to 12-1 win

The Selects rode a five-run first inning and a dominant pitching performance from Chad Fink to their fourth win of the season, dropping the Barons 12-1. In his first start as a Select, Fink allowed just one hit and one unearned run through five innings, striking out 10 along the way. He also had a 2-3 night at the dish, including an RBI double and two runs scored.

Other offensive standouts on the night included Tim Coverdale, who was a home run shy of the cycle, going 3-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored; Brad Dowling, who hit a two-run inside-the-park home run and added an RBI sacrifice fly; Reed Laughlin, who went 2-4 with a triple, a run scored, and 4 RBIs; and Brent Furtney, who went 1-2 with a walk, 2 RBIs, and a run scored.

Weather permitting, the Selects will be back in action tomorrow night at 9 p.m., looking to give the Diamond Jaxx (7-0) their first loss of the season.
