Selects drop Red Sox, 11-0

Selects vs. Red Sox

Tuesday, July 3, 2012

The Selects rode a 10-run fourth inning and a strong performance from Scott Clark to a 11-0 win over the Red Sox Tuesday night, a result that looked very much in doubt after two scoreless innings in which the Red Sox put three runners in scoring position to just one for the Selects. Clark kept his poise, however, notching some timely strikeouts in a five-inning shutout. Overall, he allowed just three hits and struck out nine en route to his fourth victory of the year.

Eventually, the Selects' offense awoke to continue putting up the big numbers that has typified it lately, taking a 1-0 lead in the third inning before the aforementioned monstrous fourth. They were led by big games from Zack Anstett, who was 2-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored; Dan Clark, who went 2-3 with an RBI double and two runs scored; Mike Brown, who was 2-2 with an RBI and two runs; Scott Clark, who went 1-2 with a two-run homer and two runs scored; and Jamie Ridley, who stayed hot with a 2-3 night that included an RBI and a run scored.

The win moves the Selects into second place in the Black Division at 6-3, with a major test against the undefeated Diamond Jaxx (9-0) looming on Thursday at 9.
