Selects continue to slump

Selects vs. Moonshiners

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

The Selects fell to the Moonshiners 8-4 Tuesday night, marking their fifth consecutive loss. The Moonshiners posted three unearned runs in the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead before the Selects' sticks awoke. Dan Fogal stroked a single to lead off the bottom of the third, followed by Brad Dowling laying down a sacrifice bunt and reaching on an error. After a Kevin Ryrie bunt single to load the bases and a Brad Cleasby fielder's choice, Jamie Ridley stroked a bases-clearing triple and came in to score on an errant throw, giving the Selects a 4-3 lead. Alas, it would not last, as the Moonshiners put up a five-run fifth to take a lead they would not relinquish.

With the loss, the Selects fall to 6-8, which drops them into a tie for fifth in the KFL's Black Division. They'll look to move up in the standings next week with a pair of games against the division-leading Diamond Jaxx on Monday and the Barons on Wednesday.

MVP: Jamie Ridley, 2B
