Selects suffer first loss

Selects vs. Diamond Jaxx

Tuesday, June 4, 2013

The Selects suffered their first loss of the young KFL season Tuesday night, falling 6-1 to the always tough Diamond Jaxx.

The Selects opened the scoring in the top of the second when Shayne Riepert singled and came in to count when the Jaxx third baseman threw away a Dan Clark grounder. The lead would be short-lived, however. The Jaxx put together a two-out rally to plate three runs in the bottom of the second, keyed by a two-run single from Chad MacQueen. They added one run each in the third, fourth, and fifth innings en route to the 6-1 win.

Scott Clark took the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits, while striking out two. Also of note, in his first game in 19 months, Glen Hall worked a walk in his only plate appearance. The Selects (3-1) get right back at it tonight against another divisional foe, the Bulldogs (1-2). Game time is 9:00.

MVP: Shayne Riepert, 3B
