Selects lose fourth straight

Selects vs. Razorbacks

Thursday, June 27, 2013

When it rains, it pours, and frankly the Selects probably wish it had actually poured Thursday night. Instead, they lost their fourth straight, 4-0 to the Razorbacks.

The Razorbacks opened the scoring in the top of the third, when Jeff Carson and Darcy Zimmerman scored on back-to-back two-out singles by Andrew Mathies and Dean Clement. They added two more in the fourth, when Zimmerman hit a two-out, bases loaded single to score Rod Fevreau and Tyler Lisk. And that was that. Fevreau put together a tidy five-hitter for the Razorbacks, striking out seven over the complete game shutout. Mike Brown (2-3) and Glen Hall (2-2, SB) were the lone offensive bright spots for the Selects in the loss.

Shayne Riepert was saddled with his third straight defeat, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits, while striking out five. Scott Clark pitched three sparkling innings in relief, allowing just one hit and striking out five. The Selects, now 5-5, will look to awake their offense and halt a four-game skid on Tuesday at 9 against the Thunder (2-6).

MVP: Glen Hall, 1B/RF
