Selects vs. Outlaws
Wednesday, June 10, 2015
The Selects dropped their second straight decision Wednesday night, losing 12-5 to the undefeated Bell Cartage Outlaws to fall to 7-2 on the season.
Things started out promisingly enough for the boys in green, as Chad Fink kept Bell's league-best offense in check through two innings and the Selects took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second. After Brett Pfeifer hit a double to the fence in left and Darren Strickland followed with a single over third, both came in to count courtesy of RBI groundouts by Mike Brown and Shayne Riepert.
The lead would be short-lived, alas. The Outlaws put up five in the third, punctuated by a three-run homer from Tim Dubois, and another two in the fourth to jump ahead 7-2. They added five more in the seventh to make it 12-2 before the Selects scratched out three, courtesy of a Kevin Ryrie sac fly to cash Brown and a two-run triple from Tom Allan, scoring Riepert and Marcos Osorio.
MVP: Darren Strickland, 1B
