Selects vs. Red Sox
Wednesday, July 15, 2015
The Selects put up 11 runs on 14 hits Wednesday night, outlasting the Red Sox 11-7 in a two-way offensive onslaught.
After putting up one run in each of the first three frames, the Selects found themselves leading 3-2 before erupting for a five-run fourth inning in which they sent 11 batters to the plate. The Red Sox refused to go quietly, however, answering with a four-run inning of their own to close the gap to 8-6 and chase Selects' starter Scott Clark from the game.
In relief, Shayne Riepert proceeded to allow just one hit - a home run to Chris Balsdon, his second of the game - over the final three frames, while striking out eight. The Selects added a run in the fifth and two more in the seventh for the eventual 11-7 win.
Offensively, the Selects got multi-hit games from Riepert (3-4, HR, HBP, RBI, run), Mike Brown (2-3, BB, 2 SB, 2 RBI, 3 runs), Tom Allan (2-4, BB, 2 SB, 2 RBI, 3 runs), and Darren Strickland (2-5, 2 RBI, run). With the win, the Selects improve to 11-5 on the season.
