Selects vs. Jays
Wednesday, July 29, 2015
The Selects rode a three-run second and four-run fifth to a 7-3 win over the Jays Wednesday night, improving to 13-6 on the season.
After squandering a bases loaded, nobody out situation in the bottom of the first, the Selects again loaded them to start the second, courtesy of singles from Scott Clark, Shayne Riepert, and Dan Clark. After a sac fly from Mike Welton, Chad Fink stroked a two-run single to stake the Selects to a 3-0 lead. Meanwhile, Riepert carried a no-hitter into the fifth before a Jason VanderHarst triple keyed a two-run inning to cut the lead to 3-2.
The Selects answered right back with four in the bottom of the inning to take a 7-2 lead, paced by Brett Pfeifer's league-leading sixth home run and an RBI ground-rule double from Scott Clark. Fink secured the victory with two efficient innings in relief, allowing one run on one hit.
