Selects Drop See-Saw Affair

Selects vs. Bell Cartage

Thursday, June 8, 2017

The Selects dropped their third straight on Thursday night, falling to the Bell Cartage Outlaws 8-5 in a back-and-forth battle.

The Selects drew first blood, when Mike Brown ripped a one-out triple in the bottom of the second and came in to score on a Scott Clark single. But the Outlaws bounced right back with a three-run third, keyed by hits from Derek Martin, Tim Dubois, and Corey Way. Not to be outdone, the Selects tied things up in the bottom of the third when Brown ripped a two-out, bases loaded single to cash Brad Cleasby and newcomer Phil Schmitt, both aboard with singles of their own.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Selects took a 4-3 advantage when Noah Baker, in his first game as a Select, tripled home Clark. The Outlaws' vaunted offense ultimately proved too much on this night, however, putting up five runs in the final two frames, while the Selects were only able to add one more.

MVP: Brad Cleasby, 2B
