Selects Double Up On Jaxx

Selects vs. Diamond Jaxx

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

The Selects rode strong pitching and a couple hot sticks to their third straight victory and eighth win in their last nine on Wednesday night, doubling up on their divisional rivals, the Diamond Jaxx, 8-4.

Scott Clark picked up his seventh win of the year, throwing a very effective 4 2/3 innings, striking out three while allowing just two hits and three unearned runs. Doug Hoffman closed the game out by retiring all four batters he faced.

Offensively, Mike Welton was clutch all night long, coming to bat with two outs in all four of his plate appearances and going 2-3 with 3 RBIs and a walk. Glen Hall also had a big night at the dish, going 1-1 with a hit-by-pitch, walk, RBI, and four runs scored.

With the win, the Selects leapfrogged the Jaxx to take over first place in the Black Division. They now hold their destiny in their own hands and can clinch the division title with a win or a tie in their final game Thursday night.

MVP: Doug Hoffman, DP/P
