Wednesday, July 20, 2011

The Selects put up a six-run first inning and a seven-run fifth to win their fifth in a row Wednesday night, dropping the Red Sox by a count of 15-5 to sweep the season series.

In a night that saw five Selects cross the plate at least twice, standout offensive performances were posted by Mike Welton (2-3, 2B, 4 RBI, 2 runs), Scott Clark (2-4, 2B, 4 RBI, 2 runs), Mike Brown (2-3, 2B, SB, HBP, RBI, 3 runs), Glen Hall (0-0, 4 BB, 3 runs), and Zack Anstett (1-3, 3B, 3 RBI, run). Clark also picked up his sixth win of the season, allowing five runs (one unearned) on nine hits in five innings of work, while striking out four.

With the win, the Selects improve to 11-6 with five tough tests awaiting them to round out the regular season. They look to keep the momentum rolling in Brussels this weekend with their third tournament of 2011.
