Selects vs. Puslinch Phillies

Pitcher Doug Hoffman was a one-man wrecking crew Wednesday night, leading the Selects to a 3-1 win over the Puslinch Phillies with a virtuoso 15-strikeout, one-hit gem.
The Selects took an early lead in the top of the first, when Mike Welton ripped a triple down the line and came in to score on a clutch two-out RBI single from Jamie Hickling. Puslinch tied it up in the bottom of the second when Ryan Mallin homered to left field, but Hoffman had the Phillies' offense in chains the rest of the way. The Selects would score the eventual game-winner in the top of the fifth when Mike Brown singled and scored on a Kevin Ryrie single up the middle, and the boys in green added one more for insurance in the top of the seventh when Dan Fogal walked and scored on a single to right by Brown.
With their third consecutive win, the Selects now sit in third place in the Black Division and hope to move into second with a pair of wins in the coming week.
