Selects Down Familiar Foe In Game 1

Selects vs. Smoke

Tuesday, September 7, 2010

For the fourth straight season the Selects have reached the KFL semi-finals and have once again come up against a very familiar opponent in the Smoke. Game one of the series went Tuesday night and the teams supplied the usual drama that has become accustom to the Selects-Smoke meetings.

The Selects struck first in this tilt, as Mike Brown got the ball rolling in the first with a lead-off walk. Kevin Ryrie followed that up with a one-out single and Jamie Hickling continued his hot bat with an RBI single cashing Ryrie.

The Smoke replied in the fourth with a single, a reached on error and a two-run triple, all coming with two out.

Fortunately for the Selects they quickly jumped back on the Smoke, Hickling scoring the go-ahead and ultimately winning run in the bottom of the fourth. Riding the arm of Doug Hoffman through the rest of the game, the Selects took game one 3-2.

MVP: Jamie Hickling, 1B
